 Alcohol Burner

A with cotton wick, when filled with spirit and ignited, gives a constant and stable flame that can be used to heat substances to moderately high temperatures. With screwed brass wick holder and protective cap. The size of flame can be adjusted through the wick using a forceps.

 Magnetic Rings, Floating
It comprises the following.

  • Magnets, Ceramic
  • Metal Rod on Base
 Electromagnet

Demonstrates the large electromagnetic power due to the flow of electric current. Consists of two parts, core and yoke, each fitted with a heavy, steel eyebolt. Generates a substantial amount of lifting power on account of high precision surface matching of core and yoke. Powered by two ‘AA’ batteries (not included), connected to the coil by crocodile clips. Battery holder mounted on top of core. Can lift to 145lbs/70kg. With instructions.

 Dynamo, Hand Operated

Rotation of the wheel results in the generation of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC), output selectable through a sliding switch. The dynamo operation glows the small light bulb mounted on base. Output can also be had from a pair of 4mm sockets. The complete unit mounted on base.

 St. Louis Motor

Demonstrates the conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy, and vice-versa and concepts of motor and generator. Open construction enables easy viewing of working and identification of parts. Operates on 3-6V DC. Two–pole armature wound on plastic bobbins and fitted on brass cone–bearings. Field magnets are of Ceramic disc type. If armature is made to rotate without electrical power, the motor is capable of generating small emf across its two terminals. Complete with instructions.

 Demountable Transformer

This apparatus has been designed primarily for demonstration of the basic principles of the AC transformers and electromagnetic induction. The cores and various coils included also serve as the basis of many experiments in electromagnetism, using either direct or alternating current. Complete with one each of U shaped and I-shaped iron core with base having in built clamping system. The complete unit consists of
·          Clamp base with a laminated ‘U’ Core and laminated armature
·          2 soft-iron pole pieces
·          1 300-turn 4A coil
·          2 600-turn 2A coil
·          1 1200-turn 1A coil
·          1 3600-turn 0.3A coil, center tapped
·          1 12000-turn 0.05A coil
·          1 600-turn coil for use on 240V AC mains with shielded plug, fused protection and mains lead terminating in moulded mains plug.
All the coils are wound on high impact and thermal resistant material bobbins with insulated casing and are wound using enameled copper wire. All the coils are fitted with 4mm socket terminals except for 600 turns coil for AC mains use. The number of turns and the direction of winding is marked on each coil. The clamping base is provided with an arrangement to firmly hold the U-core and provides for easy changeover of the coils. Soft-iron pieces locate on top of the U-core arms. One end of each pole piece is flat so that the pole pieces in situ provide a narrow gap with full cross-sectional area, while the other end is in the form of a truncated cone giving a narrow concentrated field between the poles. With Instruction Manual. Other accessories also available on demand.
Optional Accessories:
Induction Accessories Set: Comprises a six-turn copper coil to show the production of a heavy current at low voltage by the melting of a nail, a solder trough to demonstrate the principle of induction furnace and a set of aluminum rings to show ‘Thomson’s ring’s effect. Two rings are ‘solid’, the third split to show that the rings must be continuous for ‘levitation’ to take place.

Motor Accessories Set: For demonstrating the effects of eddy currents, and the principles of shaded-pole motor. Comprising a pair of quadrant shaped eddy-current plates, one plain, one slotted and an aluminum motor disc with pole-shading piece. A vertical support rod fits into the hole provided in one of the transformer pole pieces and itself carries two transverse holes with clamping screws to accommodate the spindles of the quadrants and motor disc.

Van de Graff Generator, Hand Driven

completely hand operated, mounted on a base. A metal sphere surrounds the upper pulley assembly and charge accumulates on the sphere which is supported on an insulated transparent plastic column that also supports the pulley assembly at its upper end. The charge builds up until electrical breakdown of air surrounding the sphere occurs. Supplied with discharging sphere, metalized spheres, Faraday’s pail, head of hair, point discharger, electrical whirl and neon bulb.

Van de Graff Generator, Motor Driven
For study and demonstration of electrostatic phenomena. Motor Driven with a detachable metal dome for collecting charge. Complete with a removable, flat rubber belt, provision for mounting accessories on top of the dome, 4mm socket terminal on the base for attaching accessories and a discharge sphere with insulating stem. The charge is transferred from generator to the metallic dome surrounding the upper pulley through the motor driven rubber belt and two metallic combs. To attain high voltages, the lower portion of the sphere (Collar) is smoothly bent inside without sharp edges or bends. The complete unit is fitted on base and other insulating parts are made of Perspex.

 Wimshurst Electrostatic Generator

Electrostatic generator capable of producing spark up to 3² under favorable weather conditions. Two circular plastic plates, 24cm in diameter, each having metal sectors on their surface along the rims. Both the plates are mounted parallel to each other and rotate in opposite direction with a handle and belt system using joint less rubber belts through pair of large and small pulleys. Metal brushes, consisting of a bunch of laminated flexible strands, rub against the metal sectors and generate static charge. This charge is conducted to leyden jar capacitors on connecting it to the ball shaped electrodes with a lever handle and gets accumulated on ball shaped dischargers. A pair of lever rods, ball shaped electrodes and a smaller pulley is mounted on an insulated arm. The pivoted section of electrodes has 4mm hole for electrical connection to operate various accessories. The complete assembly is mounted on a stable base with the help of a pair of legs. Complete with instructions.
